Seed Library Pop-Up & Workshop
Wednesday 1 April 2026, 5–7pm
Do you:
~ Want to learn how to use The Seed Library at CCADLD.
~ Want to start growing your own food, but don’t know where to start.
~ Your space is limited to a window sill or a door step, but you want to grow your own vegetables and herbs.

Then this pop-up workshop is for you.
Come along to this free event to get the chance to find out more about The Seed Library at CCADLD. We will be joined by Conor O'Kane from The Seed It Union, who will share his knowledge and wisdom on all things seeds, planting and growing. You will learn about how to use The Seed Library, how to start growing despite limitations and how to become a seed saver. You will find out about what varieties you can borrow and grow. You will learn how to become a seed saver, by saving seeds for The Seed It Union; a way to contribute to an international network of custodians that maintain our natural heritage of saving seeds and growing our own vegetables. Pop along to The Seed It Union's annual Seed Saving Celebration each November at CCA.
You are invited to bring along items from your recycle bin, including toilet roll holders, mushroom trays and yoghurt pots. There will be seedlings from Conor's greenhouse and some compost to take home with you.
This free workshop is suitable for all ages. This event is in partnership with CCADLD, The Seed It Union and Artitude: Climate, Culture & Circularity. You can book your free ticket via our online shop here. Groups can email info@ccadld.org for more information.

CCA Derry~Londonderry is delighted to host the Seed Library by The Seed It Union, open to the public. The library stocks a range of seeds for everyone to borrow and grow. It is a legacy of the Fugitive Seeds exhibition in 2022 guest curated by Borbála Soós and, along with our annual Seed Saving Day, is part of our ongoing Public Programme
You are welcome to visit the Seed Library during our regular opening - simply speak to a member of the CCA Team, you can find them in the Office, and they will open the library for you. To borrow any seeds, you can browse and then record what you are borrowing with a member of the team. Call in to CCA to have a look! Our opening hours are Tuesday–Saturday, 12–6pm, you can find us at CCA 10–12 Artillery Street, Derry~Londonderry, BT48 6RG.
