CCA Project Space: Ciara Darcy Melty Beads
During the month of July, Ciara Darcy is using the Project Space as a living studio to develop her melty bead projects on a large scale. Using plastic beads in bright rainbow, often candy colours, she created wall hangings, handbags, keychains, and more to reflect fun and play.
Previous works included a quilt questioning how AI was disrupting the art sector, and she used the monotony and time consumed by making the quilt with beads to think about what AI could not do. While completing her project, she looked into the idea of how AI perpetuates gender-based violence, which inspired her to make a quilt dedicated to women.
