2021 CCA digital residencies now viewable online

Blood reliquary

All three of our 2021 digital residencies are now available to view online. Over the course of the year, we have hosted Creating Dangerously by Alberta Whittle in May 2021, Holy Blood by Cat and Éiméar McClay in October 2021 and The Indoor Tree by Ciara Finnegan in November 2021.

Creating Dangerously by Alberta Whittle saw the artist, curator and researcher share research images, writing, watercolour paintings and films to look into the legacy of Ireland's plantation history and its relationship with colonialism in the Caribbean.

Holy Blood by artist duo Cat and Éiméar McClay formed a digital sketchbook by sharing new and existing work including moving image, writing and digital renders inspired by their research into the legacy of Magdalene Laundries and mother and baby homes across Ireland; this will act as a stepping stone towards a longer video, which they hope to complete in the future.

The Indoor Tree by Ciara Finnegan was informed by theories surrounding the philosophy of self and constructs of self and place as discussed in neuroscience and contemporary psychology. Ciara built a chatbot and hosted an online holiday for our competition, Laura via a Padlet page.
