We are happy to share images from our recent creative workshop series in collaboration with The Hub, Liberty Consortium at Northside, Derry~Londonderry.
Participants were joined by artist Vanessa Marsh, who delivered six, weekly workshops. Each week Vanessa came with a range of materials and ideas for the young people to engage with. Everyone got the chance to think about colour, shape, pattern and texture. Using a range of materials including paper, card, glue, paint sticks, acrylic markers and tissue paper to create 2D and 3D artworks. Highlights included darkening the room and putting tea-lights into the lanterns they each made, plus the chance to draw large colourful drawings using the acrylic markers on a sheet of black paper that stretched across the length of the table. Thank you to the young people for all their creativity and commitment over the six weeks. Thank you to Vanessa for bringing a range of ideas for everyone to try out!

Vanessa Marsh is an artist living and working on the Inishowen peninsula in Donegal. Her creative journey began in textile design at the National College of Art and Design, and expanded into mixed media during her MA in Visual Art Practices at IADT. That experience encouraged a more intuitive, process-led approach that continues to shape her practice today.
Vanessa's work blends painting, illustration, and collage — primarily in two-dimensional form. Using hand-painted papers and found materials to build layered compositions that explore memory, place, and the emotional pull of landscape. After 25 years in Dublin, Vanessa returned to a consistent studio practice in Donegal, where the natural surroundings and spaciousness have renewed her creative direction.
