Derry Halloween 2025

For Derry Halloween 2025 the Centre of Contemporary Art Derry~Londonderry invites artist Vanessa Marsh to design and deliver family friendly workshops in the the gallery on Thursday 30 & Friday 31 October 2025, at 11am–12pm & 12pm–1pm.
Northwest-based artist and illustrator Vanessa Marsh will lead family friendly workshops for Derry Halloween. Vanessa is known for her vibrant work. Her practice combines hand-painted papers, collage, and illustration – techniques she will bring to this year’s Derry Halloween programme.
Participants will use Vanessa’s specially created painted papers and a mix of art materials to design and construct expressive masks—each one a unique transformation of the self, inspired by the colours and symbols of Samhain.
The family friendly workshops take place in CCA, 10–12 Artilllery Street, Derry~Londonderry, BT48 6RG on Thursday 30 & Friday 31 October. Available workshop times are 11am–12pm and 12pm–1pm. Tickets cost £5 per child. Children aged 2 and under are free. You can book your preferred date and time slot via CCA's online shop here. We look forward to seeing you there!

Vanessa Marsh is an artist living and working on the Inishowen peninsula, Donegal. Her creative journey began in textile design at the National College of Art and Design, and expanded into mixed media during an MA in Visual Art Practices at IADT. That experience encouraged a more intuitive, process-led approach that continues to shape her practice today.

Vanessa's work blends painting, illustration, and collage—primarily in two-dimensional form. Using hand-painted papers and found materials to build layered compositions that explore memory, place, and the emotional pull of landscape. After 25 years in Dublin, Vanessa returned to a consistent studio practice in Donegal, where the natural surroundings and spaciousness have renewed her creative direction.
