Join us on Saturday 23rd July from 11am to 1pm for the first booksvscigarettes reading group event, where we’ll be discussing the Xenofeminist Manifesto. Authored by polymorphous xenofeminist collective, Laboria Cuboniks (b. 2014), Xenofeminism: A Politics for Alienation (2015) ‘maps a feminism adapted to the realities of abstraction, virtuality and complexity conditioning our everyday lives – a feminism requiring unprecedented, counter-hegemonic proportions. Seizing alienation as a generative impetus, the Laboria Cuboniks collective diagrams a synthetic, anti-naturalist approach to world-making as a common project for construction, recognising the Promethean demands in front of us ethically and cognitively.’

The text can be read/downloaded here or email info@cca-derry-londonderry.org for a .pdf.

This event is free and open to the public but please email info@cca-derry-londonderry.org to let us know you’re coming.

booksvscigarettes is CCA’s new intermittent reading group. It takes its name from George Orwell’s essay which assessed the price and value of reading against other pursuits.
