Announcing Future Screens NI Digital Residency Artists 2026–27
CCA Derry~Londonderry is delighted to announce the Future Screens NI Digital Residency Artists for 2026/27. The residencies are part of a wider programme for arts professionals working in the creative industries supported by Future Screens NI.
Meet Alannah Bates & Re:Turn Collective, CCA’s new Digital Artists-in-Residence, who will develop two new digital projects with us over the coming months.
Alannah Bates is an Irish artist exploring landscape, the Anthropocene, and imperial legacy via an interdisciplinary approach which traverses sculpture, installation, CGI, moving-image and poetry.
During this digital residency, Alannah will develop her project ‘Divinations’, a digital installation that teaches you to build your own fortune-telling device. Referencing, cybernetics, the occult and the human history of divinatory techniques, the work asks what it means to seek meaning through machines. @alannah.ruth
Re:Turn Collective
Re:Turn Collective was founded in 2025 by Laura Hegarty and Cara Gilliland to address the fragmentation in Derry’s emerging art scene between artists living in the city and others living elsewhere for academic, professional or personal pursuits.
Building on Bell Hooks' concept of homeplace applied to the digital realm, as well as Laurel Schwulst's writing on ‘website as room’, they will build a website which can be used as a community hub and event space. @returncollective.derry
Stay tuned for updates as their work develops.

Through the programme, CCA provides upskilling opportunities for arts professionals, in digital technology and professional development skills. The programme includes training sessions led by industry professionals, experimental takeovers on CCA’s social media, digital residencies on CCADLD.org and a short mentoring programme. Offering paid opportunities, and optional access costs support for arts professionals, to reduce barriers to participation.
CCA is delivering this training programme for creatives, making opportunities to work digitally in NI and the north west, providing technological skills, digital tools and confidence to work with technology in the arts sector. You can read more about Future Screens NI at futurescreens.org.
