CCA Derry~Londonderry is delighted to host SUBMERGED, an interactive workshop by artist BENCOLE. Ben returns to CCA following the CCA Graduate Award in 2025. The workshop will take place in CCADLD on Saturday 30 May 2026, 2–4pm. This event forms part of the Public Programme for Glimmers, a solo exhibition by artist Yasmine Robinson.
During the workshop participants will engage with Ben's approach to exploring the boundaries between expanded painting and installation, working with textiles, fabric dyes and spray paint. To get started, introductions will be held SUBMERGED in fabric. This will be followed by exploring these materials, through movement, looking at transparency, engaging with colour and layering. In response to the exhibition you will paint with the materials, while reflecting on colour through interaction and memory. Next, as a group you will create a still life/ environment/ habitat with the fabrics, piling and draping. As a group you will use the fabrics and colours as stimulus for drawing. A reflection will bring the session to a close.
Booking is essential for this workshop as places are limited. You can book your place via this page. This workshop is free to attend, however a £5 deposit will be needed to book. This deposit is refundable on arrival to the event. The workshop is suitable for those 16 and over. It is suitable for all levels of ability and all materials are provided.
