Learn about the CCA DLD Seed Library, plant seeds, considering how seeds are a model of adaptability, being part of the environment to which they belong.

You are invited to join this free workshop led by Conor O’Kane from Seed It Union and Social Farms and Gardens. You will have the opportunity to learn more about the seeds in the CCA DLD Seed Library, mix up soil and plant seed trays and meet like-minded individuals. Everyone can pot Sunflower seeds from the library and take them home.

Seeds are adaptive, no matter where they come from in the world they can adjust to the circumstances and place in which they grow. The plants' offspring grow in ways suited to their habitat; seeds are a model of adaptability and being part of the environment to which they belong.

This event is free, informal, accessible and booking is essential. Book your place here. It is suitable for all ages and abilities. All materials will be provided. It will take place in the gallery space in CCA Derry~Londonderry, 10–12 Artillery Street, BT48 6RG. We look forward to seeing you there!

CCA Derry~Londonderry is delighted to host the Seed Library by The Seed It Union, open to the public. The library stocks a range of seeds for everyone to borrow and grow. It is a legacy of the Fugitive Seeds exhibition in 2022 guest curated by Borbála Soós and, along with our annual Seed Saving Day, is part of our ongoing Public Programme

You are welcome to visit the Seed Library during our regular opening - simply speak to a member of the CCA Team, you can find them in the Office, and they will open the library for you. To borrow any seeds, you can browse and then record what you are borrowing with a member of the team. Call in to CCA to have a look! Our opening hours are Tuesday–Saturday, 12–6pm, you can find us at CCA 10–12 Artillery Street, Derry~Londonderry, BT48 6RG.

The Seed It Union emerged from Food Security, through the Seed Saving & Exchange programme (FSSSE) set up by Social Farms & Gardens NI. SeedIt Union are supported by Necessity. You can read more about Social Farms and Gardens here.
