During her one-day residency at CCA, Katrina Sheena Smyth will be considering encounters with the absurd, through the work of poet and philosopher René Daumal (1908-1944). Embodying the essay “The Pataphysics of Ghosts”, Smyth aims to create liminal ritualistic space is where absences (ghosts) may appear, as fragments and cracks within the fabric of our everyday perception. Smyth’s residency will end with a Poetic Stories and Drumming Meditation Workshop, welcoming participants on a journey – considering and paying respect to absence, traces, histories, stories and myths, as ghostly remnants that are very much present in our being.
