Film-making workshop: IT'S NOT CLEAR FROM HERE
Mara Cavalli will deliver a film-making workshop on Saturday 28 February 2026, 1–4pm.
The workshop takes its lead from the themes in CCA's current exhibition IT'S NOT CLEAR FROM HERE, curated by Ashleigh Wilson. During the workshop participants will use film-making techniques to create re-imagined memories from archival material and found footage. Mara will provide a selection of material and participants are also welcome to bring their own to use in the session. The workshop is suitable for those aged 16+. It is free, places are limited and booking is essential via the CCA online shop here. The workshop will take place in CCA, 10–12 Artillery Street, Derry~Londonderry.

During the session, we looked around the exhibition and considered ideas around memories. We looked at Lucy Tevlin's work, with specific interest in the process of buying exposed film from ebay and working with these found images. Using both selected archival and personal material, the group used Davinci Resolve for Ipad, a free downloadable software, to create pieces of moving image, working with the theme of making false memories. The group used microphones to record sound gathered on a city walk, to add to their films. Many thanks to Mara for sharing her knowledge and skills with the group. Thank you to everyone who attended the workshop.
