CCA Ulster University Graduate Support Award: BENCOLE

BENCOLE is the BA recipient of the CCA Graduate Award for students graduating in 2025 from the University of Ulster's Fine Art courses. The Award consists of the opportunity to use CCA's Project Space, stipend and mentoring with CCA Director Catherine Hemelryk.

About the artist:

BENCOLE is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice explores conceptual themes, most recently focusing on the idea of "the gap" and the space between realms.

Each new body of work begins with a colour palette, which serves as a foundation to exploring emotion, meaning, and the development of shapes and compositions. Their practice involves collecting accidental and natural marks using paint on unstretched, unprimed fabric.

Working in the CCA Project Space, BENCOLE aims to deepen their practice through immersive installation creating environments that embody the conceptual gap and offer viewers the chance to step into something that feels both familiar and unknown, like a portal between worlds.
