On Tuesday 3 August 2021 from 10am, follow artist Perce Jerrom as he takes over our Instagram and Twitter pages to share his work and research for CCA Introducing 2021. CCA Introducing is a series of 24 hour social media takeovers by emerging artists. Each artist has been nominated by an artist or curator connected to CCA. The recommendation to invite Perce to participate in CCA Introducing came from artist Miguel Martin, who hosted his solo exhibition Put to the Sword at CCA Derry~Londonderry in 2016.

Perce Jerrom (b. 1985, UK) graduated from his BA in Fine Art at Oxford Brookes University in 2009, and subsequently attended an unaccredited MA at School Of The Damned in 2015. In 2019 he completed and was awarded a Distinction on the Fine Art MFA Programme at Goldsmiths University.

Working between video, installation, sculpture and print he has recently been investigating online cultures and there real world implications. He has exhibited work at Peak (London), Korai Project Space (Cyprus), Gossamer Fog (London), Art-O-Rama (Marseille), Kreuzberg Pavilion (Berlin), Bikini Wax (Mexico City), CBS (Liverpool) and Art Exchange Gallery (Colchester). He has attended residencies at Korai Project Space (Cyprus) Spare Room Residency (Liverpool), Casa Maauad (Mexico City), Lac Esarq (Guadalajara, Mexico) and STCFTHOTS (Denmark). Awards include the John Brookes Memorial Prize, a free studio with Departure Gallery, The Goldsmiths Student Scholarship and the Gilbert Bayes Scholarship.

‘Our Time’ has been edited and produced by myself throughout the past year, in essence it is an audio/visual essay that examines our now ubiquitous daily interaction with online media. Despite this project having been conceived and created during this time, there are no direct references to COVID-19, although the project is evocative of our current feelings of collective paranoia and isolation. Instead, the film is reminiscent of the randomness of a social media feed or of Youtube’s autoplay algorithm, as it juxtaposes a mixture of tonally dissonant shot and found elements.
