Info

For this year’s Cathedral Quarter Weekend CCA Derry~Londonderry invites city based artist Aimee Melaugh to work with the public to create a series of large scale paintings in the collaborative painting event Supporting Cast.

The activity will take place in front of the gallery, on Artillery Street on Saturday 4 & Sunday 5 September 2021, 1pm–4pm. Drawing from the ideas that underpin her research, such as persona, identity and stripping it all away, Aimee will work with participants to create bold and expressive paintings. Working on large sheets of paper, using brush and brightly coloured inks, they will look at where and how to find pattern, consider how to develop a colour palette and explore a range of mark-making.

This will be a lively, creative event, aimed at all age groups, with an emphasis on families. The exciting part of this event is that everyone can work individually, to create a collective installation for CCA. Alongside this activity, the gallery will extend its opening hours for our current exhibition Irish Modernisms for the full weekend. For more information please email info@ccadld.org.

This event is supported by Derry City and Strabane District Council.
