Gintė Regina presents BOY and Red Berries

BOY still 1

CCA Derry~Londonderry are delighted to present a screening of two films, BOY and Red Berries, by artist Gintė Regina on Friday 24 March 2023, starting at 2pm.

Gintė was a participant in the first DeMo Reciprocal Residency programme with CCA and Kaunas Artists' House; this work was created following her stay in our city.

The screening will last around half an hour. No booking is necessary, and it is free to attend.

About Red Berries:
A young woman visits her grandmother's empty apartment, where she finds clues to her past. Memory and fantasy intertwine in a poetic portrait of two women.

In this essay film, time and place are fluid; we jump from 8mm footage evoking life in a Lithuanian village sometime around the 1940s, to the quiet interior of a recently vacated apartment in present-day Vilnius. The protagonist slowly moves through the rooms, inspecting the objects left behind by her grandmother, suddenly doubling up as the grandmother in her youth, riding a bicycle along a country road, meeting a soldier, watching herself from a tree, both witness and participant, both a receiver and creator of these narratives that unfold in her mind and on the screen. The film unravels in multiple layers of imagination and feeling, making connections across time and generations and celebrating life.
