CCA Culture Kids Open Call
Registration is now open for the next installment of CCA's exciting summer programme for 8 to 10 year olds. The first session explored grid beam construction. The second one will take place August 23rd and 24th, and will be themed around urban ecology, working with children on the skills to become amateur ecologists and foragers.
Lead artist Andrea Francke and collaborator Bonnie Fortune will ask participants to pay careful attention to the urban spaces around them and explore the city anew, investigating animals and plants species, habitats and trails that surround us, often unnoticed, in the city. On the second day, the group will be joined by Community Horticulturalist Gareth Austin for a special session on foraging for edible plants on and around the city walls. There are a limited number of places. To register, please contact Sara Greavu, Public Programmes Coordinator: coordinator@cca-derry-londonderry.org.
These workshops are offered as part of CCA Culture Kids – A Play Laboratory, an innovative art programme for primary school children, made possible by The Big Lottery Fund's Culture for All programme. The project uses utopian ideals of Do-It-Yourself and self-sufficiency as a starting point for a celebration of children's play.
