Anna Ådahl 'Common Patterns' – exhibition launch
Join us for the opening of Common Patterns, an exhibition of new work by Swedish artist Anna Ådahl, on Saturday 6th June at 7pm. Using video, sculptural works, and ready-made objects associated with methods of control, order, decoration and display, Common Patterns examines the conditions of the ‘mass ornament’ (a notion developed in the early twentieth century by cultural critic Siegfried Kracauer). The exhibition explores how urban patterns and the choreography of our bodies in the city shape our behaviour and further our subjecthood.
The opening will be preceded by a walking tour and conversation at 6pm between the artist and Declan Hill of the Forum for Alternative Belfast, looking at the specific choreographies of the built environment in Derry city centre.
