CCA Ulster University Graduate Support Award: Susanne Horsch
Susanne Horsch is the MFA recipient of the CCA Graduate Award for students graduating in 2025 from the University of Ulster's Fine Art courses. The Award consists of the opportunity to use CCA's Project Space, stipend and mentoring with CCA Director Catherine Hemelryk.
About the artist
Susanne Horsch is a Swiss installation artist working across textiles, soft sculpture, and writing to explore the relationships between mind, body, emotion, and lived experience. Drawing from feminist, queer, and affect theories, her work creates tactile environments that invite intimacy, vulnerability, and collective connection. She holds an MFA from Ulster University Belfast.
At CCA, Susanne is transforming the Project Space into a fully immersive drawing environment—covering the walls and floors with paper to create an all-encompassing research space. Working inside this room-sized drawing allows her to step into the emotional and psychological landscape of the story as it develops, informing future storyboards, sets, and soft-sculptural props.
This residency forms the foundation for a new body of work leading toward upcoming solo exhibitions in 2026 and 2027, envisioned as a “soft-sculptural cinema” where characters, landscapes, and emotional textures spill beyond the screen and into the viewer’s space.
