Info

We're looking forward to handing our Instagram over to Kedisha Coakley, our next CCA Introducing artist, on Thursday 4 April 2024. Throughout the day, Kedisha will give us an insight into her practice.

Kedisha has been nominated by artist Susan Hughes, whose solo exhibition Stones from a Gentle Place ran at CCA this year, until March 2024.

Kedisha Coakley is a London-born, She5ield-based artist of Caribbean descent. Her practice spans sculpture, printmaking, and photography, predominantly casting in bronze, through which she interrogates Black histories and experiences. Investigating the overlooked, she remixes aesthetics, techniques, and cultural references throughout her work.

Kedisha is one of the five artists in the Freeland Foundation artist development programme in She5ield 2022-24; finalist of Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2021; and the recipient of the Yorkshire Graduate Award 2020. Recent exhibitions include Betwixt, beyond, 2024. Fitzrovia Chapel, London, UK. Dutch Flower Paintings: Exploring Art in Bloom. 2023-24. Millennium Gallery, She5ield, UK and St Luke’s / The Box. Plymouth, UK. Against Apartheid. 2023. Karst, Plymouth, UK. And Mi waan go a country go look mango, 2023. Bloc Projects, She5ield, UK.
