CCA is pleased to have received a large number of submissions for Production CCA, our annual open call for emerging artists with a connection to our region. This year’s proposals will be assessed by writer Maria Fusco, curator Remco de Blaaij, and CCA Director Matt Packer. The successful applicant will be contacted during the first half of August 2014. Applications were invited from artists to realise a project in the galleries of the CCA, taking place from early December 2014 and continuing until end of January 2015. There was the additional possibility of incorporating the façade of the Caldwell & Robinson building (in which CCA is housed) as part of the proposal. No age limit applied to this call, but the applicant needed to be in the earlier stages of his or her career and have a connection to Northern Ireland. Applicants were also required to demonstrate that their project can be realised within the specified budget and timeframe. The selected project will be supported with a production budget of £3000 and an award of £1000, plus the organisational and curatorial support of the CCA. Production CCA has been made possible through the generous support of Arts & Business NI, Caldwell & Robinson Solicitors, and The Arts Council of Northern Ireland. Previous Production CCA recipients include Lee Welch (2012) and Dorothy Hunter / Neil Clements (2013). The deadline for applications was Sunday, 27th July at midnight (GMT). Submissions are now closed.
